Jagannath is a form of Krishna worshiped together with his brother Balaram and sister Subhadra. The icons are made of wood, an exception to common Hindu iconographic practice of stone sculptures. The world‑famous Jagannath temple is located in Puri (in the state of Orissa) and is known for the colossal Rath Yatra (chariot festival) (June/July), which gave a new word, juggernaut (unstoppable), to the English vocabulary. Special events in the temple include: Every fifth Sunday of the month, Jagannath Puja, and a grand Rath Yatra (chariot festival) during June/July.
