Seated on a white swan, Sarasvati is the embodiment of knowledge, wisdom, speech, and music. To exemplify that, she holds a book and vina (lute). She is specially worshiped by seekers of art, wisdom, and knowledge. She is consort of Lord Brahma. Special events in the temple include: Sarasvati Puja (Vasant Panchami) accompanied with great festivities including “Vidyarambha” (commencement of studies) for school children during Feb–March. Also, three days are dedicated to her worship during the festival of nine nights (Navaratri) in the Fall season.
